Mini Challenge JCW - Results

So it’s been another interesting day today…

The team EXCELR8 Motorsport worked incredibly hard right through into the night getting everything on my car straight for today, and they did a brilliant job in doing so!

Race 2 for the most part went very well and after a handful of laps I’d settled into 13th place from a starting place of 15th… however, about mid way through the race, a car that was trying to overtake me into turn one decided it would be a good idea to force me off the road so they could make their overtake, and they did so by hitting me up the back and pushing me off the track…

Fortunately keeping out of the barriers, I managed to pull the car back around to finish in 15th place… Sadly the impact from the hit was large enough to also throw the rear tracking out, which made the car, once again, very tricky to drive in the latter stages of the race… Consistent I think the word is for race 2…

Race 3, was, unfortunately not a great deal better, starting in 15th, on the first couple of laps, I once again managed to get the car up and into 13th place, to, a couple of laps later, take another huge knock on the left rear into Brooklands, which not only lost me more places, but also again, threw my rear tracking out, making the car very challenging to drive for the remainder of the race… Overall I believe I finished in 16th place on the track, to come in to find I had received a 15 second penalty for track limit abuse in turn one, meaning I ‘officially’ finished in 22nd…

The officials handed out tons of track limit infringements to lots of drivers in this race, as everybody was abusing turn one, the trouble is, if you didn’t also abuse it you lost out massively into turn two... really very unfortunate…

Overall, it’s been a challenging weekend for team Gravett, however, that aside, I’ve shown some very promising pace and driving as seen from the team data, which is, when the car’s straight, easily a top 10 pace… Sadly my qualifying position, caused by a tracking issue, put me in the mid field where all the carnage is… We’ll reconvene and go again at Brands in a couple of weeks for the finale… see ya there!
